OCZ Buys Flash Controller Manufacturer Indilinx
OCZ, who needs no introduction, has bought Indilinx, who may need one, for OCZ stock equivalent to $32 million. Indilinx is an SSD controller maker who makes controllers for embedded systems. An example of an embedded system are devices such as tablets and phones. For their regular SSDs, OCZ uses SandForce controllers. The SandForce controllers are generally much faster than the controllers Indilinx makes, but they are used for a different purpose. In buying Indilinx, OCZ hopes to gain more of the embedded flash memory market.
