DRAM Prices to Start Going Back Up

· by John Ponio

If you’ve been watching the DRAM market, you know that it’s been incredibly low as of late. With prices for 2GB DDR3 around $17, DRAM vendors are having some troubles. Luckily for manufacturers but not so much for us, Digitimes reports that DRAM prices should be going up beginning at the start of the next quarter. One nice thing about the extremely low prices is that the regular amount of RAM in pre-built machines has gone up. It’s now a 4GB norm, up from the 2GB norm of the past. The thing to take away from this is that if you plan on buying RAM in the near future, buy sooner rather than later.
