Comcast Demoing 1Gbps Cable

White ARRIS is showing off a cable that can transfer information at 4.5Gbps, Comcast was showing off their next generation of technology: 1Gbps Cable Internet. With this speed, CEO Brian Roberts used a live 11-mile network to download 23 episodes of NBC’s 30 Rock in 1 minute and 39 seconds. The article doesn’t say whether those were HD episodes or not. The new speeds use the same system, DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification), as the new ARRIS 4.5Gbps cable uses.
