WinRAR 4.0 Beta 1 Released
WinRAR 4.0 Beta 1 was recently released, and with it come many new features. Among those is a new compression algorithm, which can increase decompression speeds by up to 30%.
Other new features are:
· A better Blu-ray Support: UDF support has been upgraded to UDF 2.50 revision. It makes it possible to unpack most Blue-ray ISO files. While browsing the UDF ISO file, UDF revision number is displayed after the “UDF” format name in WinRAR address tool bar and in archive information´s pop up window.
· Optional password display: via analogous password dialogue in the packing and unpacking process, passwords now can be visible during both processes.
· Message list in GUI SFX archives only displays the operation status and error messages. It does not contain the names of all extracted files anymore. This change improves the extracting speed process and reduces memory capacity for SFX archives containing a large number of files. Also, it makes it easier to locate error messages since they are not hidden among the extracted file names.
· At a glance: if an archive with recovery records (retrieval information) and recovery volumes are being processed, WinRAR 4.0 will show the processing status in percentage.
