Sprint iPod Touch 3G?

· by John Ponio

ZTE PEEL

I know we don’t usually do gadget news on this site, but I thought this was an interesting idea. Starting on November 14th, a new iPod Touch accessory from Sprint allows you to access Sprint’s 3G network anywhere service is available, without a contract. The accessory, called the ZTE PEEL, will be available for $79.99 upfront with a $29.99-a-month for up to 1GB of 3G data per month. While this may all sound fine and dandy, the ZTE PEEL adds considerable bulk to the iPod Touch, seeing as it has it’s own battery which, according to Sprint, will last up to 3 hours. This also doesn’t look to turn your iPod Touch into a makeshift iPhone because the pictures show the device covering the headphone port. This means that you can’t plug a microphone in to talk through. One nice thing is because it broadcasts a wifi signal, you can connect up to two devices to it at a time. Sadly, it only works on second- and third-generation iPod Touches. You can read the press release here, if you want to.
