Samsung Announces Consumer SATA 6Gbps SSD

Samsung has recently announced a consumer line of SSDs called the 830 Series. For some reason Samsung decided to make the outside with brushed aluminum with orange trim, even though the drive will only be seen as you’re putting it in your case. At least it’ll look nice while you’re doing that. There’s no word on speeds, but Samsung is using their own controller. If it’s the same one as Samsung’s OEM line, the PM830 series, then there will be roughly 500/350MBs read/write in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB sizes. There’s an extra, if you pay, that adds on a 3.5 in. bracket (for mounting in a desktop case), all required cables, and Norton Ghost (a backup program). No word on pricing or availability.
