Samsung Announces 1TB-Per-Platter HD
Samsung has broken the previous limits in hard drives to bring 1 terabyte per platter disks to the market. What this means is that we can expect to see 4TB HD’s on the market soon. It also means that there will be 2TB, two-platters drives as well. The higher platter density means faster read and write speeds with less power. Samsung will be debuting the new platters in 2TB “eco-green” 5400rpm drives. The drive, shown off at CeBIT, doesn’t have an announced launch date but it’s expected to be released this year.
