Razer's Big Announcement is a Gaming Laptop With a Twist

· by John Ponio

We’ve all seen gaming laptops: big, bulky, heavy, and powerful. But what if you could have something that’s thinner than an inch, less than 7 pounds, and packed with all sorts of power? If you can afford it, Razer today announced just that, following up on their Wall Street Journal ad “PC Gaming is Not Dead.” Here are the specs:

That’s some extremely beefy hardware for a laptop so thin and light. The touchpad isn’t below the keyboard as normal touchpads on laptops are, but it’s to the right to sort of simulate the keyboard+mouse combination. Southpaws should feel left out, sadly, as there is no word on whether there will be a version with the touchpad on the left. The touchpad does, however, act as a screen, similar to how Razer’s Switchblade is. It’s planned to ship in Q4 2011 for $2,799.99 each. Hefty price, but I’m wondering if the market will think it’s worth it. Read more on the laptop here.
