Possible April 2012 Windows 8 RTM
According to one of Mary-Jo-Foley-of-ZDNet’s source, it’s very likely that the Windows 8 RTM (release to manufacturer) would be released in April of 2012. Keep in mind, this is only from one source and is unconfirmed by Microsoft. On the other hand, though, the earlier-than-expected release date does carry some credence. The only release “date” given by Microsoft was 24-36 months after Windows 7 was released (RTM was in July 2009, and the public release was October 2009), so it fits. As well, based on Microsoft Office release patterns as they coincide with OS releases, it fits. Could we see Windows 8 that early? Only time will tell. But in the mean time, we can only hope.
