Oracle Turning Open Office More Open Source

· by John Ponio

The actual ramifications of this aren’t quite clear yet, but Edward Screven, who is the chief corporate architect, said, “We intend to begin working immediately with community members to further the continued success of Open Office. Oracle will continue to strongly support the adoption of open standards-based document formats, such as the Open Document Format (ODF).” Open Office has been the object of a lot of politics between companies, which makes this move rather surprising.
