OCZ Announces Revodrive Hybrid

· by John Ponio

For performance users, OCZ’s Revodrives have become pretty popular. It combines the PCI Express bus with the speed of an SSD to get some extremely fast read and write speeds. Their newest version comes as a surprise, however, in that it’s not just an SSD anymore. Techreport reports that the newest Revodrive will be a hybrid between an SSD and an HDD. It will use two SSDs in RAID 0 as a cache for the HDD, giving the entire hybrid drives read/write speeds of 575/500MB per second with 4KB writes of 30,000 IOps. . With those speeds, it’s all ready a top of the line SSD, but it adds to that by having much more storage space. There aren’t many details out yet, but OCZ is thinking of using a 60GB SSD with a 500GB HD, and a 120GB SSD with a 1TB HD. It’s supposed to show up in stores in July with a price tag of $350.
