NVIDIA launches mid-range GTX 460 graphics card
Since March, the only Fermi card that NVIDIA offered was an expensive, high-end $500 GTX 480. Today, NVIDIA launched its mid-range GTX 460. The DirectX 11 GTX 460 is priced against the ATI Radeon 4830 at $199 and $229 for the 768MB and 1GB DDR5 models, respectively. From the reviews I have read the GTX 460 matches up similarly to the 4830 in 3D benchmarks and power consumption. The overclocking results are very positive as well. It is always great to have more options in the graphics card market. Just a brief check of Newegg shows over half the GTX 460 models in stock so if the reviews impress you enough you shouldn’t have a hard time finding one to buy.
