NVIDIA GTX 570 Released
Today, NVIDIA released it’s new GTX 570, which is meant to be the successor to the GTX 470. NVIDIA claims that the GTX 570 is “built from the DNA of the GTX 580” (the GTX 580 is the first 500 series card and is the more powerful model). It has 480 CUDA cores running at 1464MHz, a 732MHz graphics clock, and 1.25GB of GDDR5 memory at 3.8GHz. It’s comparable best to the GT 480, while remaining quieter, more power efficient, and cooler. It looks nearly identical to the GTX 580, but the specifications aren’t quite the same. The GTX 580 has 512 CUDA cores, a graphics clock of 772MHz, and 1536 MB GDDR5 at 2004MHz. NVIDIA claims that “when compared with the closest competitive product, the GTX 570 is up to 128 percent faster in today’s newest DX11 tessellated games, and 30 percent faster in previous-generation DX9 and DX10 games.” It can be purchased from the usual suspects for $350, while the GTX 580 is available for just over $500. But before you shell out your hard-earned cash for one of these beasts, as always it’s best to wait to see what ATI comes out with. ATI will be launching their Radeon HD 6900 series next week.
