Microsoft to buy Skype

Last week there were rumors that Facebook was considering buying Skype, but now there are confirmed reports that Microsoft will purchase Skype for $8.5 billion, the biggest purchase in Microsoft history. Microsoft hopes to expand their communication divisions, and Skype is a sure way to help that. Don’t fret, though, Mac users, Skype will still be supported on iOS and the Mac OS. They plan on blending Skype with Microsoft’s Xbox, Windows Phone, and Lync communications. Skype’s Chief Executive Sony Bates, of Skype, will become the new President over the Microsoft Skype Division and will report directly to Chief Execute of Microsoft Steve Ballmer.
