McAfee Puts Together "Dirty Dozen" List of Disguised Malware Programs
McAfee, who was recently bought by Intel, has put together a “Dirty Dozen” list of malware programs disguised as anti virus programs. As a side note, “AVG AntiVirus” is on the list. That may confuse a lot of people, but my guess is that it’s one of those similar-but-not-exactly-the-same-name deals. If you use AVG and think you might have the infection, uninstall it and reinstall the program you download from their official website. Here’s the list:
- AntiVirus Scan
- Anti Vira AV
- System Tool
- Smart Internet Protection 2011
- Fast Disk
- Good Memory
- Disk Optimizer
- AVG AntiVirus
- Palladium Pro
- Windows System Optimizer
- Windows Security & Control
- Windows Utility Tool
If any of those are installed on your computer, get help immediately. Free options include AVG Free and AVAST!.
