Intel to Launch New 10-Core Xeon

· by John Ponio

Intel is expected to launch their new 10-core Xeon server processor, the Westmere-EX. This is going to replace the old 8-core Nehalem-EX processor, that’s built with a 45nm architecture. The new Westmere-EX will be built with a 32nm architecture, which means lower power and better performance. As it’s a server processor, it could be in a board with up to eight other processors. And, with each core able to run 2 threads, there could be a total of 160 threads running at the same time. That’s some crazy power. No word of clock speeds as of now.
