To get ready to produce the new 22nm microarchitecture, Intel is investing $2.7 billion in an Israeli chip plant over the next two years. “We are already in preparation for hiring, we are scheduled to start production in December” said Maxine Fassberg, general manager of Intel Israel. Intel Israel already employs 7,057 people already, and will hire another 1,000 people. This will be Intel’s second plant able to produce 22nm chips.
