Intel Launches Core i7 990X Extreme Edition

Intel has (seemingly silently) launched their new Core i7 990X Extreme Edition. For a whopping $1,049.99, this 6-core, 32nm, 6x256KB L2 cache, 12MB L3 cache, 130W, 3.46GHz (3.6GHz power boost) processor could be yours! As it’s extreme edition, it’s unlocked for all of your overclocking needs. For just $50 less, at $999.99, you can get almost the same processor with the 980X EE that came out Q1 2010. The only differences are the 980X is Gulftown, not Nehalem, and it’s regular clock speed is 3.33GHz. The powerboost speed is the same at 3.6GHz, however. Both are LGA 1366.
