Intel Integrating DirectX 11 Into Ivy Bridge

· by John Ponio

Now that Sandy Bridge has come out, the next processor in line is Ivy Bridge. Running along the same lines as Sandy Bridge in that the GPU is integrated into the CPU, the big difference in the new one is that it will use a 22nm process compared to the 32nm that Sandy Bridge uses, as well as have support for DirectX11. Intel considered giving Sandy Bridge support for DirectX 11, but they decided it wasn’t needed because it will just be getting mainstream by the time Ivy Bridge comes out. As Intel releases a new processor every year, Ivy Bridge will be expected to reach consumers early next year. If you’re interested, you can read more about it here.
