Intel Buys Yet Another Company: Silicon Hive
Intel has been spending a lot of money lately, but they’re Intel so they can afford to do that. This time they’ve purchased Silicon Hive, a company that developed from part of Philips (but has since become independent) and that studies parallel processing. Intel’s Atom processors used some of Silicon Hive’s technology. The CEO of Silicon Hive, Atul Sinha, said, “New Venture Partners and Intel Capital never shied away from the heavy lifting involved in making Silicon Hive the success it is today. It has been a great pleasure partnering with New Venture Partners and Intel Capital. They’ve been with us from the early stages, and have been strategic advisers on our product and business development along the way. We now target phenomenal successes inside Intel in the delivery of differentiated multimedia experiences in Atom-processor based SoCs.”
