DVD Drive on a Flash Drive

· by John Ponio

Ever wish you could have the usefulness of DVDs but the speed and size of a flash drive? Well with a new invention called an Isostick does just that: it takes ISO files (images of discs stored on a hard drive), mounts them as a DVD drive within the drive itself, and has a bootloader so you can choose which ISO you want to boot from if you’re trying to boot from. It’s a 32GB flash drive, so you’ll be able to fit quite a lot of ISO files on it. If you still don’t understand, take two ISO files, for instance, of the Windows 7 install discs and Office 2010 install discs. You just copy the ISO files onto the flash drive, and it will automatically make the Windows 7 disc bootable. So you reboot and install Windows 7. Then, after it’s installed, you can install Office 2010 from the drive as you would from a DVD. You can read more on it here.
