Comcast Now Offering 105Mbps Internet
If you’re a Comcast user, or if you want to be come one, Comcast is now offering a 105Mbps Internet service. As a comparison, Verizon’s FiOS tops out at 50Mbps at the highest tier. This speed is great, but it has its problems. For one, if you just want standalone Internet, Comcast’s top-tier service will run you $199/month. If you have Comcast’s Triple Play, it’s still $105/month for the first twelve months. For two, this super-speed internet also retains Comcast’s 250GB bandwidth cap. Just to get an idea of what that means, it’d take just under 5 and a half hours downloading at full speed to max out. FiOS’ 50Mbps tier, which as far as I know (feel free to correct me in the comments) does not have a bandwidth cap, costs $139.95 if you have a home phone service and $144.99 a month if you don’t have one. It’s hard for me to tell if Comcast’s new offering is really a good thing. At first it sounds like one, but with such a little bandwidth cap (for such a high speed meant) it’s hard to tell.
