AMD First to Natively Support USB 3.0
You read the title correclty: AMDwill be natively supporting USB 3.0 in their chipsets before Intel, even though Intel invented USB 3.0. AMD will put native USB 3.0 support into their A75 and A70M Fusion chipsets in an effort to let more motherboard vendors have USB 3.0 functionality. Currently, motherboard vendors have to include third party controllers, which add unnecessary price to the boards. Intel is trying to push Lightpeak, a.k.a. Thunderbolt, rather than USB 3.0, although they said Thunderbolt and USB 3.0 are designed to exist with the same bus. Because of its backwards compatibility, AMD is hoping to gain the market with USB 3.0. Personally I am very curious to see how Thunderbolt will be adopted. We all know what happens when Apple chooses an interface.
