ADATA Releases Sandforce-Driven SSD
ADATA, a relatively popular manufacturer of flash-based products, announced yesterday a new Sandforce-driven SSD series, the S511. Using the SandForce SF-2200 chip, it has read/write speeds of 550/520MB/s with 4K random writes and up to 60,000 IOPS. It comes in 60, 120, 240, 480 gigabyte sizes. The good thing is that it uses SATA 6Gbps specification, so the SATA connection isn’t the bottleneck. They say in their tests they had a 25 second system boot time with this drive. No word on pricing in the press release.
