Genius Battery-less WIreless Mouse

· by John Ponio

A peripheral manufacturer called Genius has recently come out with a “Genius” little mouse that will apparently last all day on only a three minute charge, thanks to its battery-less technology. Instead of a regular battery that wireless mice use, it uses a gold capacitor. Now before you write this off as a gimmick, think about it. The capacitor that they’re using has a 100,000-recharge life cycle, according to the press release the charge will last all day. It also only takes about three minutes to charge fully, which is quite amazing if you compare it to a regular battery. The wireless specification is the standard 2.4GHz, sadly, but it does have a pico-receiver which means it doesn’t protrude out of you USB port very far. The mouse sensor works on most surfaces (not clear glass but dusted glass), and it has adjustable DPI between 800 and 1600. If the capacitor really holds out, this mouse is extremely promising.
