Thermaltake announces the upgraded Purepower 680W
September 2005 - Taipei, Taiwan –
In order to meet and achieve beyond the increasing power demands in high-end power supplies, Thermaltake Technology announced the upgraded Purepower 680W. The upgraded Purepower 680W complies with the newest Intel ATX12V 2.2 and the SSI (Server System Infrastructure) EPS12V (Entry Chassis Power Supplies) specifications.
Not only does the Purepower 680W incorporates state-of-the-art input filter, output OVP, OCP, SCP, OTP protection circuits, it is also equipped with Active PFC which ensures the stability of each rails even under heavy loads. As part of the requirements of ATX 12V 2.2 specifications, the upgraded Purepower 680W pushes up the efficiency to 80% and above, which also helps with electricity saving tremendously.
Meeting the specifications is only the beginning of the upgrades on the Purepower 680W. The upgraded output is also evident as Thermaltake upped the output amperage of +12V to a total of 52A. Catering to the massive +12V needs of the modern gaming computers, the upgraded Purepower 680W provides 8 sets of 4 pin Molex connectors, 4 sets of SATA connectors, 2 sets of lower-voltage fan connectors, and finally, 2 sets of PCI-E connectors for all of the high-end gaming and video needs our enthusiasts require. There will be no more “not enough power” doubts for the high-end ATI and NVIDIA SLI video cards. The third independent +12V rail on the Purepower 680W is there to provide extra power to the +12V rails and mainly there as a back up to help stabilize the system when there is an extremely high load on the power supply. This third +12V rail feature is especially desirable for the server-based systems.
The Purepower 680W not only meets higher specifications and provides stronger outputs; Thermaltake Technologies has also taken that extra step to mirror polish the power supply shell. Once the Purepower 680W is installed into the system, it is not just another grayish power supply; the mirror-finished power supply will distinguish itself apart from the rest of the system.
