Gigabyte GA-8GPNXP Duo 915P Motherboard Review @ PCStats
“The Gigabyte GA-8GPNXP Duo will support up to 4GB of DDR-2 or DDR memory (though not at the same time); which is one the nicer features of the 915P chipset. There are two sockets for DDR-2 RAM, and four sockets for DDR RAM. Onboard components consists of an IDE RAID controller, IEEE 1394b fireware, four SATA channels, three PCI x1 slots, 7.1 channel Intel ‘High Definition Audio’, a PCI Express based Broadcom 5751 Gigabit NIC, a second PCI-based Gigabit Marvel NIC, an 802.11G wireless LAN card, and twin BIOS’. The software bundle includes all the typical fodder, including a copy of Norton Internet Security 2004.”
PDP Patriot DC 1GB PC3200+XBL Memory Review @ Gurureview
“So with my DFI motherboard and A64 3000+ I was able to squeeze 2.5GHz out of the CPU while using a FSB speed of 250MHz (1GHz HTT) with the RAM also running at 250MHz at timings of 2.5,3,3,8, this was with just 2.8v too. Performance was great, but unfortunately I was unable to go much higher regardless of RAM timings or voltage used, unless I was to take one stick out which allowed me to get into the regions of 280MHz on the FSB and RAM. As Corsair’s PC3200XL RAM is much cheaper now (About £200 for 1GB) it is definitely RAM that should be considered by any A64 owner who is into overclocking.”
