Maxtor's MaXLine III 250GB: Bringing 16mb Buffers and NCQ to Hard Drives

Want an affordable hard drive with 250gb of space that runs as fast as Western Digital’s 10,000RPM Raptor? There’s not much to say other than Maxtor’s MaXLine Plus II will probably be in your future. NCQ support will definitely take a part in making intel’s new chipsets more worthwhile, as Anandtech found out.

Maxtor’s newest drive not only doubles the buffer size of its closest competitor to 16MB, but it also enables Native Command Queuing to make it one of the fastest drives that we’ve ever tested. Could NCQ support be the saving grace for Intel’s 925X chipset?
