GamePyre's Two-fer

· by John Chen

Gamepyre sure was busy. They release a two-fer review for gamers out there. First up is the Gigabyte DVDdual.

“I like the DVDdual GO-W0808A a lot. I’ve had use of a Sony DVD 8x rewriter and a AOpen DRW-8800 and this one. Of the three, I prefer AOpen’s bundled software, Gigabyte’s performance and Sony’s look. Nero is the best recording/writing software out there in my opinion. I give AOpen props for including that bundle with their drive. Gigabyte’s software is good too, just not in the same class.”

Then they continue with the ATI HDTV Wonder. A combination of these two products will sure make a great HTPC at home.

“At a retail price of only $199, the HDTV Wonder is much cheaper than buying a standalone HDTV television and tuner. Add to that the cost of an antenna to receive HDTV broadcasts and you can clearly see that the HDTV Wonder is an excellent product for the price point. I went to a local store and the cheapest HDTV compatible antenna was $49.99, which is the same RCA 45W amplified antenna that I use in all of my AIW reviews and TV tuner reviews. With the TV Wonder Pro RCE retailing for $149, the extra $50 is worth it.”
