Bedtime

· by John Chen

My friends are arguing in the living room over some stupid topic as usual so I went to have my usual cigarette. While outside, I looked at two trails of ants and thought of dual channel memory. Then I realized how geeky I can be…

ABIT AL8 @ techPowerUp

“ABIT has engineered the AL8 for Intel Socket775 to be a good compromise between features, performance and price. Apart from the standard features, the motherboard has Gigabit Ethernet, an extra SATA controller, 8 Channel Audio and ABIT’s uGuru. We also found out why other reviewers could not overclock past 220 FSB and describe how to fix it. Our best result was 4568 MHz @ 326 FSB.”

It’s a good thing that they were able to find a way to counter the barrier of 220FSB. One thing I question is why anyone would want to increase the PCI-E bus. It just puts more stress on the video card.

On the subject of LGA775 motherboards, the Asus below is currently the best out there.

Or if you must really need SLI, the Intel nForce4 solution is decent. I personally don’t think it’s better than Intel chipsets but the performance is great.
