AMD Athlon 64 3200+, Upgrader's Perspective

· by John Chen

Who here still runs an overclocked AXP? I certainly do. My trusty JIUHB 1800+ is running nice and smooth at 2.3ghz. With AMD’s new 64 bit CPUs, is it worth upgrading? I ask myself that sometimes. There are no programs that utilize the 64 bit yet. Viperlair has a good article giving you some of their opinions.

“As a short term fix, the Socket 754 still has some life left to it. You will not be able to bring it with you later on though, as many manufacturers are only making Socket 939 version motherboards based on the newer chipsets. Availability is still limited though, and Socket 754 systems are something that are readily available now.”
