About InsaneTek (2004)

· by John Chen

Technology has progressed at a faster pace than the average consumer’s needs. There is no longer a single choice for any particular hardware you might want to purchase. Computer hardware is the perfect example. Computers have matured quite a bit in the last decade, with more companies emerging and exploring the limits of computer hardware. Much like the local news, computer technology needs recognition as well. There are various computer hardware sites that try to spread the news, and in doing so, compose series of articles and reviews about the latest equipment. Consequently, InsaneTek began.

InsaneTek was founded on June 1st, 2004 by four administrators. We grew tired of website and forum hopping, so we decided to step up and create our own. There are numerous computer enthusiast sites that people can roam around on, but we are different. InsaneTek is dedicated to the latest computer hardware and news without all the seriousness that take away from the excitement. We focus on the best and nothing else. InsaneTek is unbiased with no exceptions. One way we like to distinguish InsaneTek from everyone else is our main focus. Many times enthusiasts can hop from one site to another, reading reviews and opinions. Almost all of you have encountered a situation where the opinions of two sites contradict each other. This is human nature; It’s unavoidable. Unfortunately, there are sites all over the internet that are what we call “puppets.” Manufacturers compete with each other for your hard earned cash. To get the best business, they can often bribe a hardware site into recommending a product that belongs in the gutter. This is what I call marketing. Sure we have vendors and manufacturers who sponsor us, help us, and provide us with review samples, but we are not obligated to praise a product that deserves none.

With that in mind, InsaneTek will remain here for as long as the web survives. I hope that everyone who visits can learn something from us, and in return we hope to learn something from you.
