Seagate And Western Digital Merger Not Happening
So says a Bloomberg article. They say that “two men with knowledge of the matter” said that Seagate turned down an offer to be taken over by Western Digital. The two people, who didn’t want to be identified because the talks were supposed to be private, said that if they merged, there would be management that would have to be let go and antitrust problems. Western Digital is worth about $8 billion, while Seagate is worth about $6.9 billion. However, Seagate’s sales are still greater than Western Digital’s sales. Brian Ziel and Steve Shattuck, spokesmen for Seagate and Western Digital, respectively, declined to comment on the subject.
