ISPs Team with the MPAA and RIAA to Deter Pirates
Because efforts to prevent piracy have been so slow to come about, the RIAA and other such associations have teamed with AT&T, Comcast, Cablevision Systems, and Time Warner Cable (and probably other various ISPs) to stop piracy. Under the new deal, ISPs will send out alerts and such if they get copyright infringement complaints, and if the person causing the complaint keeps pirating, their browsers will get redirected to splash pages and pop up alerts about their piracy will be there, and other alerts like those. The terms of the deal don’t necessarily say that service will be terminated, but it does say that the ISP can do what they think is necessary.
