AMD's New Catalyst 12.1a Preview Driver Fixes Some Rage Issues

AMD recently released the Catalyst 12.1a preview driver to fix some problems that the most recent version Id Software's Rage. So updating isn't the biggest deal if you don't play the game, but it's a nice plus if you do play. View the release notes here and download the drivers for Windows XP and Windows Vista/7 at the respective links. The driver is not 32-bit or 64-bit exclusive, so don't worry about it being the wrong version. Here's what the driver does:

  • Resolves some new texture corruption issues introduced by the latest version of the game
  • Improved performance ~5%
  • Smoother game play and reduces multicore sync points
  • Fixed mapbuffer failures when switching maps on 32-bit systems.
  • Fixed a game crash when switching maps back and forth on 32 and 64bit systems
