It took a while, but Battlefield 3 has been banned in Iran. "Why?" you might ask? Because in the game you launch an attack on the country's capital, Tehran. An unnamed person within Iran's police said, "All computer stores are prohibited from selling this illegal game." To be fair, fighting also occurs in New York City and Paris. Some stores in Iran predicted that the game would be banned, so they didn't even bother to stock it. On top of that, there are no EA resellers in Iran, so any copy of it would be pirated. A protest group of "Iranian youths" responded to the banning: "We understand that the story of a videogame is hypothetical ... (but) we believe the game is purposely released at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran." You can read the source here.
