Interestingly enough, PETA Germany has recently lashed out against Battlefield 3 because, in the game, you can kill animals in the game in a "sadistic manner." The group claims that killing animals in this way can have a "brutalizing effect on the young male target audience." It doesn't seem like they're calling for a ban of the videogame, but they did ask the maker to change their content in the future. PETA Germany claims (unnamed) scientific studies showed that violence against animals in videogames grows to violence against animals and people in real life, which we all know is not true. Also, the game is rated for 16+ by Pan European Game Information, which means that the "young male target audience" is less affected by such acts of violence.
