Rumors about HP spinning of its PC business have been floating around for a while, and indeed HP has been considering doing just that. But in an announcement today, HP has decided to keep the PC business apart of the company. Meg Whitman, President and CEO of HP, said, "HP objectively evaluated the strategic, financial and operational impact of spinning off PSG. It’s clear after our analysis that keeping PSG within HP is right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees. HP is committed to PSG, and together we are stronger." Speculations to why they decided this have fallen on the fact that the PC business gives HP leverage with companies like Intel in the server market, which is one of HP's big revenue-makers.
