OCZ Announces 1TB 'Octane' SSD

OCZ announced today that they have made the world's first (well, first that's going to market) 1TB solid state hard drive. Dubbed "Octane," this new SSD uses Indilinx's Everest controller and a lot of tweaking to make this have ridiculous speeds for all different applications, from programs to compressed files. There are two types in the series, SATA 2.0 and SATA 3.0. Obviously, the SATA 3.0 is much faster, though how much will be reveled at the end. Ryan Petersen, CEO of OCZ Technology, said:

"Until now SSDs have been tailored for specific applications, forcing users into a product which maximizes performance for a narrow band of applications, but is significantly lacking in others. The Octane Series solves this problem by providing the highest level of performance across varied workloads including mixed file sizes and mixed compressible and uncompressible data, all while nearly doubling NAND flash endurance."

The new series, ranging in models from 128GB to 1TB, will be available starting on November 1. Highlights taken from the press release follow:
