Microsoft has finally closed the Skype deal, after problems getting approved by various places such as the European Union. I wonder if this is the last stop for Skype. They've been passed around for the past decade or so, first bought by Ebay in 2005 and then by an investment group led by Silver Lake in 2009. Former Skype CEO and current president of the Skype Division of Microsoft Tony Bates said, "By bringing together the best of Microsoft and the best of Skype, we are committed to empowering consumers and businesses around the globe to connect in new ways. Together, we will be able to accelerate Skype’s goal to reach 1 billion users daily." There hasn't been much word what to expect out of this deal, but I'm sure curious as to what they have in store.
