Whether or not you like their recent decisions concerning their PC division or not, HP is undoubtedly an important player in the industry. That's why it will be interesting to see what their new CEO does with her new position. Oh, you haven't heard? HP's Board of Directors ousted former President, CEO, and director of HP Léo Apotheker and put Meg Whitman in his place as CEO and plans to promptly fill the other positions. Non-executive chairman Ray Lane has been promoted to chairman of the board, as well. Lane said, "We are fortunate to have someone of Meg Whitman’s caliber and experience step up to lead HP. We are at a critical moment and we need renewed leadership to successfully implement our strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead. Meg is a technology visionary with a proven track record of execution. She is a strong communicator who is customer focused with deep leadership capabilities. Furthermore, as a member of HP’s board of directors for the past eight months, Meg has a solid understanding of our products and markets." Lane also noted that the reason they're replacing Apotheker is that the position of CEO now requires more than what Apotheker had to offer. You can read the press release here.
