Ever wish your entire desk was a multitouch interface? Or maybe your screen? Well, there's been this filmĀ around for a while that can turn just about any non-conductive surface (wood, glass, plastic, etc) into a touch interface. I said this film has been around for a while, so what's the news about this? The developer, Visual Planet, released a driver and an SDK for it, meaning it could work with Windows 7 easily. For the multitouch-interface, the film works up to 60 inches, and for single-touch it works up to 167 inches. The film works by using a nanowire embedded polymer to sense pressure on the film. It even can detect wind on it. You can read more about it here and see Visual Planet's Youtube page with videos demonstrating the film here.
