The website of the popular torrenting application uTorrent got "hacked" recently. The application download was replaced with malware, meaning when you downloaded uTorrent and installed it you actually installed malware. The malware is the usual trickery, a fake anti-virus application pops up saying you have a virus, but you have to pay for the program to remove it.

"This morning on 9/13/2011 at approximately 4:20 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time (UTC -7), the uTorrent.com and BitTorrent.com Web servers were compromised. Our standard Windows software download was replaced with a type of fake antivirus “scareware” program."

Only people who downloaded the program between the listed times will be affected. If you did download the program to get your Linux distros between those times, check out more about the problem as well as how to fix it from the blog post.
