Windows XP Bliss

Have you ever wondered where the aptly-titled "Bliss" wallpaper from Windows XP Came from? Or even wondered if it was real? Well, it's real, and the location where it was photographed has been found. No, it's not from Ireland as previously believed. And yes, the photography made a lot of money off of it. The picture was taken in Sonoma County in California back in 1996. It's since been turned into a vineyard, and it's not quite so pretty today:

I'm sure it's a lot more pretty in season, but that's the spot. The photographer, Chuck O'Rear, signed a non-disclosure agreement with Microsoft about his payment for the picture, but the Napa Valley Register says, "A nondisclosure agreement prevents him from naming the actual figure. He says only that it was “extraordinary” and second only to that paid to another living, working photographer for the photo of then-President Bill Clinton hugging Monica Lewinsky." If you want to check it out on Google Maps, enter coordinates 38.248966, -122.410269.
