In the recently announced line of new HP desktops, HP chose to not support Thunderbolt while supporting USB 3.0. HP's marketing manager Xavier Lauwaert said, "We did look at [Thunderbolt]. We're still looking into it. Haven't found a value proposition yet." They cite a lack of support for Thunderbolt among peripheral makers as a reason they chose to not support it. Lauwaert said, "On the PC side, everybody seems to be content with the expansion of USB 3.0. Do we need to go into more fancy solutions? Not convinced yet." So far it's looking like Thunderbolt will be the firewire of the future: faster than USB but not widely supported.
