OpenBSD 4.9 Released

Open BSD 4.9

For those of you on the more tech-y end of the internet, OpenBSD4.9 was released. There's a whole host of new features, all of which can be read in the changelog. Main new features include:

 

  • New/extended platforms
  • Improved hardware support (lots of new hardware)
  • Generic network stack improvements
  • OpenBGPD, OpenOSPFD and other routing daemon improvements
  • pf(4) improvements
  • IPsec stack audit was performed
  • SCSI improvements
  • Other assorted improvements
  • Install/Upgrade process changes
  • New rc.d(8) for starting, stopping and reconfiguring package daemons
  • OpenSSH 5.8
  • Mandoc 1.10.9
  • Over 6,800 ports, major robustness and speed improvements in package tools.
  • Many pre-built packages for each architecture
  • As usual, steady improvements in manual pages and other documentation
