Facebook "Like" Button is Apparently Tracking You

I can't be certain whether this is conspiracy or truth, but the article does make sense. A doctoral candidate at the Tillburg University of Law, Technology and Society (in Holland) is now warning people that Facebook can keep tabs on almost all of your website traffic, even if you don't have a Facebook account. He says that the "Like This" button that loads on webpages and links to facebook issues a cookie with your IP and what not. With this cookie, whenever a page that has a "Like This" button linked with facebook is loaded, the information in this cookie is sent back to Facebook's servers and recorded. What this means, he says, is Facebook knows and has records of every single website you go to that has a "Like This" button, even if you don't have an account. If you have an account, they store the website traffic with your account information. If you don't, it's stored with your IP address. If you ever make an account, the information tied with your IP address is tied with your new account. Scary stuff, if it's true. You can read the article here.
