A recent report claims that Intel's hex (that's six) core "Westmere" Core i7 990X Extreme Edition will be coming out in the first quarter of 2011. This 32nm processor runs at a stock speed of 3.46GHz and can be overclocked to 3.73GHz for, sadly, just some of the cores. With Intel's more efficient use of hyperthreading, which this CPU will support, it will have a logical 12 cores. It's a 130W processor that has tri-channel DDR3 support. Officially it will only support DDR3 1066, but of course it will be able to do more. At a price of $999 or more, this isn't your average Joe's CPU.
