David DeMartini, who's the head of Origin, recently had a Q&A with GamesIndustry and talked about Origin's first year and where he hopes to take the digital downloading service. He says that int their first year, Origin was trying to set up all of the standard services that are to be expected from a digital download service. Over the months they've kept adding things here and there, like cloud-saves and friends/chat. Now that Origin is in their second year, they're going to start doing things that will distinguish themselves from their peers (Steam, Impulse, etc).
The most interesting thing out of the Q&A was his hate on Steam for their sales model. He apparently really doesn't like Steam's crazy awesome deals (like Far Cry 2 for $2.49 yesterday). Instead of 75% sales and the like, Origin will be rolling out something to compete with that. What exactly that is, however, he did not say. You can read the full Q&A here.
