Mass Effect 3

If you were like most fans of Mass Effect 3, you were probably disappointed with the game's ending. BioWare, the game's developer, has received all sorts of negative feedback about this, and now to hopefully appease the fans they've announced an "extended cut" DLC for free to "give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes."

Dr. Ray Muzyka, Co-Founder of BioWare and the General Manager of EA's BioWare Label, said,

"We are all incredibly proud of Mass Effect 3 and the work done by Casey Hudson and team. Since launch, we have had time to listen to the feedback from our most passionate fans and we are responding. With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe."

You've got to give credit to BioWare for sticking by their game, for the most part. With the extreme backlash they've gotten from the ending, you'd think a company would fold and release a DLC with a completely different, but fixed, ending. Instead they're just adding on to the ending, attempting to clarify what they already had going.

There's no set release date for the extended cut, but it's expected to be out this summer. It will be available until April 12, 2014. You can read the FAQ here and the press release here
